Herb Planting demonstrations from TV gardener
Gay Search

Gay SearchOne of Britain’s most celebrated television gardeners, Gay Search will be joining us again to give a demonstration of herb planting at about 10am, and running a stall selling herbs throughout the day.     2011 / 12 Update

Thank you!

In 2011 you raised £27,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support

Many thanks to all our supporters, new and long standing, for all the generosity you have shown over the past year. We appreciate that we regularly ask you to dip into your pockets and you always graciously help us make our events jolly and successful.
Here are some of the events you supported in 2011/12
In February Libby Balch and Liz Rigden hosted our Annual Soup Kitchen in two locations and started the year with donations totalling just over £680
In March Torin Douglas interviewed actor Graham Seed (the then recently late Nigel Pargetter) and raised
over £1300
On Friday 13th May our Plant Fair organised with the help of gardening journalist Constance Craig-Smith and writer Gay Search raised just over £7800
Later in May our spring Tennis Tournament with lunch raised £1070
On Bastille Day our annual Garden Party concluded with a very lively Auction and Fire Works in a garden near Ravenscourt Park and raised over £7500
September Tennis Tournament with lunch raised £1290
A new event in November - Ask the Experts where small items were valued by experts form Bonhams and High Road Auctions raised £681
In December, following the successful Christmas Plant Fair of 2010, a larger event was held in a Bedford Park house and raised over £3500.
During the year we also collected on Flag Day at the end of June, and received spontaneous donations, some of which were gift aided. These totaled over £3,800.

So far in 2012:
Our St. Valentine's Day Soup Kitchen raised £550.
The Bridge Evening in March raised over £1600.

Thank you!

Much of the above would not have been possible without the generous support of local retailers donating raffle prizes or food at cost. The tennis could not be so profitable without the use of Hartswood Lawn Tennis Club, neither would the Garden Party without the kindness of our hosts, and the generosity of those donating Auction Prizes - not forgetting the auctioneers and Antique Experts!

How is the money being spent?
We are currently helping to fund the training of a Neuro-oncology specialist nurse, who will provide support to patients diagnosed with cancers of the nervous system. A key focus is to provide patients and their families with high quality information about their cancer and the various treatment options, from the point of diagnosis and throughout their cancer journey. The nurse offers expert advice about how patients can best manage their symptoms and also provides emotional support to patients, their families and carers.
