Macmillan Chiswick

At Macmillan Chiswick it is very important for us to fund local services to West London as just in the Borough of Hounslow alone there are nearly 6,000 people living with cancer and we are very excited to getting back to face to face fundraising so that we can raise as much money as we can to continue to support Macmillan at this pivotal time.

The impact of the coronavirus pandemic on people living with cancer has been significant.  Many people living with cancer spent months shielding because of concerns that their diagnosis put them more at risk of becoming acutely unwell if they got COVID-19. Many other experienced disruption to their cancer care and treatment.  There is also a backlog in cancer care with “missing diagnoses” and appointments, surgeries and treatments postponed, cancelled or changed.

Chiswick Macmillan Needs You!

We are actively looking for new committee members, perhaps you have a little spare time and would like to be involved in such a good cause. We would welcome many skills so if you are a good organiser, or have creative skills or are good at cooking we would love to hear from you. Many of our events involve food.  The committee members get together and decide what is to be cooked or prepared and the individual members go and buy and make their agreed contribution.  You don’t have to be a great cook, we always play to our strengths!

Some events require a sub committee to organise the event beforehand.  Usually one committee member is in overall charge of the event.  New members are not expected to take on this responsibility until they feel ready to do so.

One of the key roles of a committee member is to have fun!  We are a very happy and committed committee.  We look forward to welcoming some new members onto the team.

Please email liz.rigden@gmail.com if you would like some more information.
